Week 14 Recap

The first week of December is FUN around here!  The house is decorated and we got to start our new very special Christmas tradition I am most excited about....

Voskamp's Greatest Gift Advent book with printable ornaments for our Jesse tree.  We have really enjoyed it so far.  It's a beautiful history of HIS story leading up to the salvation plan unfolding!

Keep it simple, people :)

It was also warm some day this week so we made sure to get outside!  I seriously love the freedom & flexibility we have in homeschooling.

And the kiddos had plenty of time to jump in the leaves and get totally disgusting dirty...

At cubscouts, a detective came in and he let the boys dust for fingerprints on a jar.  Very interesting!

Another one of our fave traditions!!

The girls are loving all the Frozen & Christmas themed printables I found!! :)

And of course social time is so important to learn!  We had friends over for Annabelle's birthday and it was a great time of fun & celebration.

THe sweeties are just continuing to learn sweetness :)  Here they are when Evelyn gave Annabelle a birthday card... and together at BSF.  THey got to come with me to the BSF opening and we were able to sing Away in a Manger together.  They need some work in sitting in more formal settings :)

We also started re-learning about CHristmas traditions!  It is so interesting to look up why things have become tradition....and then taught with the kiddos about why WE choose to do them now and what they mean to us personally now.  We have the freedom to incorporate whatever traditions we want!  And it's fun to create our family culture :)

We got this fun vegetable in the Produce Box - Raymond was intrigued they delivered us CHritmas trees to eat :)

And we had another Co Op - Ms Jenni taught history (first settlement) and Francine (absorption).  I stayed with ANnabelle & Evelyn enjoyed the preschool room.

We went with LAM to Brunswick Cove to sing carols to the residents.  This was one of the best lessons learned of the week - for sure.   I know that it was a blessing to us to be a blessing.  The ladies & gentlemen loved the singing & loved all the kiddos.  They all were very sweet and loved all my blondies as they say.

And all 3 were in their first CHristmas play!  I was so proud of Evelyn & ANnabelle's courage!!  They did it with no tears or fighting or anything!   And even smiled.  Clearly, their personalities show in this picture.  Evelyn is nervous - Annabelle is all excited & joyful.

RR did a great job as a shepherd - but was really ready for social time & snacks :)

Great job girlies!  I am SO THANKFUL they have each other.   Annabelle gives Evelyn courage.  And Evelyn keeps Annabelle in control. :)

We finished Indian in the Cupboard and I was trying to think of what to read next when GOd brought my attention to RUsh Revere & the Pilgrims on Raymond's shelf.  We started reading and I realized how perfectly GOd was transitioning us from Native Americans onto the pilgrims & early settlers like Co Op. I love when He does that!  We have so many great resources/books - and He brings things to mind just when I need them!!  He is trustworthy!

RR is learning about persuasive essays - I'm thinking this will be a real blessing to help him put into words good reasons behind his facts - instead of badgering or whining.  There's power in communication!!!
